Greenwater

Costs

GreenWater can visit your site to assess potential improvements for your current system. This will usually involve a day visit, after which a report will be produced detailing options and costs. A charge will be made for this visit, which will then be deducted from the full cost should you decide to go ahead with the project.

GreenWater can provide recommendations, designs and construction for all work as well as a detailed water budget analysis to determine the most suitable and efficient system for your site.

An example of the typical cost for a domestic reed bed system (for 4-6 people) would be about 450,000Kshs and for a hotel with 50 beds approximately 2,000,000Kshs. A constructed wetland (one gravel bed and three ponds) for a flower farm might be in the range of 2.5million Kshs depending on water quality and volume.

These amounts represent the total cost for design and construction. The savings achieved by using such a system can be calculated based on information about your water usage. The water recycling achieved at a typical domestic site can be as high as 80%, reducing water bills significantly whilst still allowing for irrigation. This may be in the range of 10,000 to 50,000Kshs over the course of the year for a domestic household. Area required for the reed beds is dependent on the topography, soil type and waste type. For an efficient combination system, a value of 2-3m²/person can be used, a minimal area when compared with the economic and environmental benefits.
